Supercars Meet Superstars At Royal Drive 2010 And Elements
Exclusive festival brings exotic cars and world-class performers to UAE in March. Supercar drivers from the Middle East and beyond are gearing up for Royal Drive 2010, an exclusive three-day event that will take place in the UAE over the weekend of March 18 to 20. Combining a customised drive with red-carpet hospitality, this unique gathering of exotic cars includes a 12-hour music festival, creating an unforgettable experience for participants and spectators. Named “Elements”, the festival will feature Grammy-winning virtual band Gorillaz and reggae-pop star Sean Kingston, alongside a host of international DJs. Royal Drive will provide 60 of the region’s elite car owners with a luxury weekend and a chance to showcase their personal collection of the world’s most exciting cars. Among the supercars set to take part is a Ferrari 458 Italia, a Lamborghini LP670 SuperVeloce and a Porsche Carrera GT Mirage. A number of places are still available for this exclusive event, each at a cost of Dh 25,000, and can be reserved by calling +971 50 276 9994. The event starts with a gala dinner at the Yas Marina Hotel, Abu Dhabi, on the evening of March 18. The following day, participants will be able to put their cars through their paces on the Yas Marina circuit, home to the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix, before following a customised route along the sweeping boulevard of the capital’s Corniche and then heading to Dubai. In Dubai, the participants will enjoy VIP access to ‘Elements’, the spectacular music festival, which will take place in Dubai Festival Arena between 3pm and 3am on March 19. Tickets for this event will be on sale to the public through Virgin Megastores and Time Out, with prices set at Dh400, and Dh650 for VIP access. Headlining ‘Elements’, Gorillaz will perform in the region for the very first time. They will be joined by reggae-pop’s finest, Sean Kingston, set to perform his number 1 Billboard hit, Beautiful Girls. The dance line-up is equally impressive, and includes Euro-trance legend Sash, TocaDisco and Guru Josh Project. The next day, the focus of Royal Drive will shift with The Walk at Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach Residence providing the backdrop. Here, spectators will once again be able to see all the cars up close, as indeed they can at Yas Marina and Abu Dhabi Corniche. Hospitality throughout the event will be of the highest class, and will reflect the luxury lifestyle associated with the cars. Participants will receive the full red-carpet treatment from luxury hotels to five-star dining. “I am delighted to support this unique event, which introduces a totally new concept to the region for all participants and spectators,” said His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani, chairman of Luce Che Vola, the company that is organising the event. “As a car lover myself, I am sure that the opportunity to see all these amazing cars in one place will fill all motoring enthusiasts with excitement.”
