Over 65,000 ID Cards Delivered Per Week, Says EIDA
The Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) has announced a noticeable rise in the number of ID cards which have already been delivered to their respective owners through the courier companies that the Emirates ID has recently contracted as part of its practical steps to seek a solution to the challenge posed by the delayed delivery of ID cards. Mohamed Masoud Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of Population Register at the Emirates Identity Authority, expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by all courier companies that shoulder the responsibility of distributing ID cards and delivering them to their respective owners. He stressed the importance of the role played by these companies in making a success of the Emirates Identity Authority’s service cycle, considering that they are a significant connecting link with customers. The Emirates Post delivers more than 44,000 ID cards per week, benefiting from the broad geographic spread of its offices across the UAE, Al Mazrouei said, adding that a total of 65,000 ID cards are distributed weekly by the companies contracting with the Emirates Identity Authority. More than 100 Emirates Post-affiliated offices across the UAE are doing their utmost to deliver ID cards to their respective owners as soon as possible in a bid to maintain the customers’ interest and save their time and effort, he said. Al Mazrouei pointed out that the other courier companies that the Emirates Identity Authority contracted shoulder the responsibility of handling the remaining ID cards and exert all their energy to deliver ID cards to their respective owners as fast as possible as per specific timelines. He explained that these good figures are a positive indicator substantiating the successful plans that the Emirates Identity Authority made in this connection. The Emirates Identity Authority would continue to co-ordinate with its private sector strategic partners to make further convenient plans for the delivery of ID cards, he said. Al Mazrouei said he was hopeful that these combined efforts would ensure the delivery of ID cards to their respective owners within a maximum period of five working days from the date they are received by the ID card distribution companies as a first stage. More efforts will be exerted to reduce this maximum period based on the studies prepared to achieve this goal.
