Dubai Police Museum
Dubai Police Museum opened on November 19th 1987. It was set up to witness and record all phases of the development and progress of Dubai Police and to tell the long series of achievements realized by Dubai Police since its inception in 1956. Moreover, Dubai Police Museum contains historical exhibits from the deep rooted past of fathers and ancestors to remain as wellspring for younger generations and to reap the fruits of the great efforts of the ancestors to be able to contribute in the development and progress of the country on solid foundations. Dubai Government lead by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, U.A.E. Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, pays a special attention to the Police Heritage. Also the generous and constructive efforts of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, helped a lot in the progress of Dubai Police facilities. Objectives of the Museum: 1. Highlighting the heritage, the development and progress of Dubai Police. 2. Maintaining the heritage and documenting the achievements of the ex-police and individuals. 3. Spreading the police educationt to all sectors of society and inciting the scientific and artistic activities related to museums. 4. Enhancing good relations between the police force and the educational and scientific to the museum. This museum is a true historical witness, which reflects the progress of Dubai Police. It shall al ways remind the generations of the achievements of the ex-police offices and individuals and it shall always be of benefit for the generations to come. The Museum Exhibits - Old and new photographs, weapons and shaped tools used by Dubai Police Force in the past. - Weapons, old and new used by Dubai Police and a collection of anti-riot devices. - Tools and equipment used in police stations. - The Police achievements in com-bating drugs. - Police Exhibits for the States of the Gulf Co-operation Council. - Handicrafts such as pieces of furniture, boats and sculptures made by prisoners at the punutiue Institutions in Dubai. - The Educational Traffic Campaigns conducted by Dubai Police since 1984. -It is worth mentioning that the international Council of Museums decided in its meeting held in April, 1995 in Jordan, to enlist Dubai Police Museum in the record of the Arabic Museums and an appreciation for the efforts exerted by Dubai Police for setting up this distinguished Museum.
