The Big Ball
The Big Ball is an exclusive charity event that unites executives from the advertising, marketing, public relations, production and communications sectors in Dubai by giving them the opportunity to join hands and give generously through sponsorship and a unique auction conducted during the evening. Children are the future. They are little lights of hope that illuminate the path to tomorrow. And the big ball event is committed to raising funds for educating underprivileged children . In an unprecedented show of unity, executives from the advertising, marketing, public relations, production and communications sectors in Dubai banded together to organise The Big Ball. The inaugural event in 2007 was attended by the who’s who of the media and entertainment industry as well as guests from the region’s top blue chip businesses and corporations. It was supported by the International Advertising Association (IAA) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). One of the main sources of contribution to the event was the auction that facilitated a collection of AED185,000 through the sale of 10 items that included: the stage dress of Sabah, a Lebanese singer and actress whose career has stretched from the mid-1940s till today; the John Lennon and Yoko Ono Limited Edition photographs, signed by the photographer; and Paulo Coelho’s Limited Edition litho manuscript collection among others. An exciting component of the Gala evening is the auction. This year’s items are being sourced and determined to be absolute treasures. One such item is a brilliant initiative taken up by the Committee called The Big Ball Celebrity Collage . This collage is a composition of the thoughts, emotions and desires that well known personalities, celebrities and public figures have for the future of children in the world. These wonderfully handwritten notes, along with the author’s photo, will be gathered together into one original masterpiece incorporating the elements and principles of Feng Shui. Crafted by Proshat Sarablou. The personalities who have already joined this beautiful intiative are: Sir Bob Geldof, Sharon Stone, Tony Shaloub, Paulo Coelho, Mahumud Yassin, Nelly Furtado, Amr Diab, Rahul Bose and Celine Dion.Website: http://www.thebigball.org
