Dubai Parks - Al Towar Park
Three new neighbourhood parks are set to open in Dubai by March. After a careful study of the various neighbourhoods in the Emirate, four locations were decided upon by the Municipality and were selected on the basis of the population that lives in and around the area.
Dubai Municipality has built 28 public parks and 25 community facilities with a total area of 555.4 hectares.There are five major parks in the city - Mushrif, Creekside Park, Al Mamzar, Al Safa and Jumeirah Beach Park. The remaining 23 are neighbourhood parks spread across various residential areas of the Emirates like Karama, Deira, Naif, Nad Al Shamma, Hamariya and Hor Al Anz which are smaller in size and allow free access to residents.
The four new parks sheduled to open shortly are located in Al Towar 3, in Safa 2, Al Garhoud and in Hatta. Presently the cultivated area per person in Dubai stands at 20.2 square metres and the target set by Dubai Municipality in this field is 25 square metres. According to World Health Organisation, the minimum green area required per person to ensure a healthy environment is 10 square metre while the European Union suggest 7 square metres.
Another project in the offing is the Hilltop Park in Hatta which, when complete will offer visitors to the area a breathtaking view of this heritage hotspot. The Municipality plans to include a neighbourhood park here to offer residents the necessary means of leisure and comfort. The park will have several walkways where people can do their walking and excercising. And it will incoperate the old heritage elements in almost every aspect inside.
