Dubai Community Health Centre
Dubai Community Health Centre (DCHC) is a private, non-profit organization which was opened and developed to provide help in a positive, supportive and non-clinical setting. The centre with its highly qualified and experienced professional consultants, and well trained support staff are geared to meet the demands of multi-disciplinary mental health and developmental care services provided for people of all ages with special needs. The aim of the Centre was to provide help for families with children with special needs and learning difficulties through offering parents, as well as teachers, courses, workshops and seminars on skills, techniques and psychological understanding of children from infancy until adult age. Being aware that learning difficulties and special needs were shrouded in mystery and negativity, and in order to remove some of this stigma, Mrs. Al Gurg developed the idea to provide help in a positive, supportive and non-clinical setting. Over the years a demand for multidisciplinary services for all age groups grew and a diverse group of professionals in the field was built up. With this expansion of services and increasing involvement in community work, the Centre changed its name in 2001 to Dubai Community Health Centre. Currently, the Centre has seventeen highly qualified and experienced Professional Staff plus twelve well-trained full-time and part-time Support Staff.
