Al Qouz Park
The Dhs6.5 million Al Qouz Park has a total area of 2 hectors and has separate games areas for children in the age groups of 3-6 years and 6-12 years. It also has a jogging track, a green play ground for football, and tiled play grounds for basketball and volleyball. The play area has a separate entrance in addition to the main entrance and two additional entrances. The park has 1.6 hectors of landscaping, which constitutes as much as 80 per cent of the total area and includes 7966 square meters of grass, 363 square meters of ground-cover, 155 square meters of flowers, 181 square meters of flower walls, 40 date palms, 195 ornamental trees and 57 decorative plants. The newest park is located in Al Qouz and was opened on Tuesday by Abdullah Raffia, Assistant Director General of Dubai Municipality for Environment and Public Health Affairs. Also present on the occasion were Ahmed AbdulKarim, Director of Public Parks and Horticulture Department, Ismail Al Banna, Head of Parks and Recreation Section, a number of officials from the municipality, students and a group of the area’s residents. The park’s opening forms part of the municipality’s activities for the 27th Plantation Week which will also involve launching of several landscaping and city beautification projects, green workshops for students and distribution of saplings. A total of three landscaping projects would be undertaken on the Third Interchange of the Sheikh Zayed Road, second phase of Jumeira Road beautification covering a stretch of four kilometers, and the third phase of the same road with a distance of four kilometers. As many as 200,000 saplings will be distributed free of cost. Of these, 40,000 saplings will be given away to various municipalities of the country while the remaining 160,000 will be distributed to the Dubai residents.
