A Thai-themed residential health resort designed around a luxury spa is to be built on one of the islands within the World development in Dubai. Opening in January 2011 and called Jasmine Garden, the resort will be located on the ‘Thailand’ island within The World development. The complete project cost is estimated at US$110m (£58.2m, 86.3m euro) while developer Profile has set a 30-month build time for the entire Thailand island. Operated as a getaway resort to revitalise the mind, body and soul, the rejuvenation spa at Jasmine Garden will cover 2,000sq m (21,600sq ft) over two levels and be designed by Barmello Ajamil & Partners from Miami, US. On arrival, guests will undergo a health consultation before gaining individually-tailored health and treatment programmes. Facilities will include spa pools, saunas and plunge pools while the relaxation area will overlook both the marina and the sea. The total land area of Thailand is 25,434sq m (273,775sq ft), of which 9,575sq m (103,070sq ft) is beach area. Residencies will be built around Thai style luxury offering and comprise beach villas, all offering ocean views. The World involves the creation of more than 300 man-made islands in Dubai that will be designed and constructed to represent a map of the world.
