It feels good to do good. What is better than providing a meal to the needy? Making sure that the meal is enriched with nutritional elements for families and giving them new colors and food varieties for their dining tables.
Emiratis are raised to share food with their neighbors, passers by, and the poor, from the same pot they pour out from to feed the individuals in their households. They do not differentiate; they are always ready to support and lend a helping hand to those in need. The Emirates has humanitarian work embedded in their culture, rooted in their history and are keen to practice it in the month of good for hundreds of years.
With the launch of the ’10 million meals’ campaign, the largest food distribution drive organized by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, in cooperation with the Community Solidarity Fund Against COVID-19, the campaign's call center workers who receive calls daily are a witness to acts of kindness and donors who want to make contributions to the less fortunate.
Bring color to their lives
A caller, Mrs. Marwa Hamdy asks the call center employee about the possibility of donating one million bananas from the Del Monte Fruit Company to the ‘10 million meals’ campaign, to be added to the meals for the needy families and those most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, to add something fresh and colorful to their packages.
The call center, which tracks in-kind donations, receives a call from one of the donors asking if he could contribute to the campaign with two tons of apples to provide another bright color to the beneficiary’s packages, which will be distributed across the UAE.
The ’10 million meals’ campaign is a show of humanity standing together in solidary, a society that respects every human being, not for their color, race, or religion, but for their respect towards one another. The campaign continues to achieve the vision of the country's leadership in turning it into a global capital for charitable and humanitarian work.
Today, as the ‘10 million meals’ campaign’s call center continues to accept calls from people wishing to contribute, since it has been announced by Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and launched by his wife Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of UAE Food Bank, new colors are added to the tables of the poor and the needy, which brings satisfaction to their souls and joy to their hearts.
