Ministry Of Health And Prevention Remarks On Emirati Children’s Day 2020
(14 March 2020)
The health and wellbeing of the Emirati child is an investment in the future of the UAE

MoHAP underlined that the Emirati Children’s Day is a national occasion to pay tribute to the UAE’s achievements in the field of the childcare in terms of granting them the basic rights of protection, support, and empowerment.

This day also reflects the keenness of the wise leadership to protect childhood, as part of the profound belief that the health and wellbeing of the Emirati child is an investment in the future of the UAE, by preparing them to make change and make decisions, in light of the UAE's preparation for the next fifty years.

The adoption of the Emirati Children’s Day by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation “Mother of the Nation”, underlines her keenness to raise the awareness of community members about children’s rights to grow up in a healthy, safe and supportive environment that helps develop their capabilities and skills for the benefit of Emirati society at large.

“Wadeema Law”, issued by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, on March 15, 2016. Such a law emphasizes the great attention of the wise leadership to the childhood and the development of legislative frameworks to protect their fundamental rights to growth, safety, security, protection, education, health, and care, among others.

The care and attention to the child health is a top priority for the Ministry of Health and Prevention, where the relevant authorities in the ministry work on several themes, from newborns to children in the first years of their life. To that end, the Ministry of Health provides the best-integrated health, treatment, and preventive services, to prevent infection from serious, chronic and contagious diseases, this stems from the ministry’s constant keenness on raising future generations in a healthy manner, provide psychological and physical safety, and to secure an adequate level of healthcare contributing to a decent life, welfare, and happiness.

The Ministry has been proactive in establishing an in-house nursery to take care of employees’ children, to ensure family and psychological stability.

This will enhance the productivity of employees while at the same time providing excellent care for children. This will also provide mothers with flexible working hours in support of breastfeeding, which strengthens the heath and immunity of children.
