As part of the bank's continuing commitment to increase the participation of local talent in the banking sector, Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the UAE, and the preferred bank for UAE nationals has announced its participation at the Sharjah National Career Exhibition (9 – 11 February, Expo Centre Sharjah). The bank’s efforts are in line with the UAE’s Emiratisation drive to increase the UAE national workforce in the private sector.
At the event, held exclusively for UAE nationals, the bank will offer a wide range of career development and training opportunities across its various departments in addition to on-the-spot offers for potential candidates, both experienced Emiratis as well as university and high school graduates.
“The banking industry plays an integral role in the UAE's economy and is one of the country's most vital business sectors. As one of the leading Islamic banks in the UAE, we want to ensure that our Emirati youth play a dominant role in shaping the industry's future and driving innovation in the competitive global financial services landscape. Our objective is to continue nurturing UAE national talent by providing them with a solid training foundation, vocational guidance and career development opportunities that empower their professional growth to become business leaders of tomorrow,” said Marwan Salem Abunawas AlMheiri, Chief Human Resources Officer at Emirates Islamic.
“Participating at career exhibitions gives us an opportunity to meet potential candidates and recruit a new batch of graduates who can offer added value to our sector. We are proud to have a team that is 24% Emirati, which exceeds our target in the Emiratisation Points system endorsed by the Council of Ministers for the financial and banking sector and enforced earlier in 2018,” added AlMheiri.
Emirates Islamic runs a series of industry-leading training programmes in coordination with the Emirates Institute for Banking & Financial Studies (EIBFS) to train Emirati youth and give them an opportunity to contribute to the growth of Islamic finance in the UAE.
‘Al Mustaqbal’, a six-month programme for school graduates up to the age of 20, includes both class room and on-job training, with successful trainees then being deployed permanently across various divisions of Emirates Islamic. The bank’s Future Relationship Managers programme is a seven-month training designed for Emirati university graduates with the aim of developing them into Relationship Managers roles in the Wealth Management division of the bank. In addition, the bank also offers NASA, a training programme for Emirati college students interested in a banking career. Open to UAE National university graduates up to the age of 27, the 9-month course is a fast-track career development initiative.
