The Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS), a regional leader in banking and finance education and training, today signed a memorandum of understanding with Emirates Islamic to enhance cooperation, provide organised training programs and support development initiatives for UAE nationals working in the banking sector.
The MoU, signed by Jamal Al Jasmi, General Manager of the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies, and Salah Mohamed Amin, CEO of Emirates Islamic, aims to develop new Islamic banking programmes in addition to preparing qualified Emirati citizens to work in the Islamic banking sector.
According to the memorandum, the two parties will exchange experiences and work together to develop banking programs, provide support for Emiratisation initiatives, and qualify national cadres to ensure their career growth.
Jamal Al Jasmi, General Manager of EIBFS, said the signing of this agreement was in line with EIBFS’ strategy to establish partnerships with leading banking institutions in the UAE in order to develop the industry and provide additional support to the workforce in the banking sector.
“The MoU specifies areas of cooperation between the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies and Emirates Islamic, which includes developing an educational programme that allows the exchange of experiences between the two parties, in addition to training students and facilitating the exchange of information and knowledge,” he said.
Salah Mohamed Amin, CEO of Emirates Islamic, said, “We are pleased to partner with Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies to provide world-class financial education to our employees. Our collaboration with EIBFS will equip our employees with the knowledge and tools required to succeed in the banking sector and to promote the growth of Islamic banking in the UAE and the region. We understand the trends that will impact the future workforce and through our partnership with EIBFS, we aim to prepare our organisation for the future.”
He added: “At Emirates Islamic, one of our priorities is to support the Emiratisation Agenda of the UAE government and we have implemented a comprehensive program to recruit, develop and train Emirati employees. Over the years, we have collaborated with EIBFS to run several successful training programmes tailored for our Emirati staff. Our University Graduates program, for example, recruits 30 Emiratis every year and provides them with all-round training to become professional bankers. We will continue to collaborate with EIBFS in developing and implementing more such programmes for our Emirati employees.”
