Expo 2020 Waste Management Partner Dulsco has launched a branded multi-coloured recycling bus, a first-of-its-kind initiative in the region tasked with raising awareness of recycling in communities across the UAE.
Reflective of Expo 2020’s commitment to the circular economy amid its broader sustainability efforts, the bus – which features a variety of bins as receptacles for different types of recycled waste – was revealed on the first day of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2020 in Abu Dhabi.
The bus will shortly set off on a journey around the UAE, raising awareness across communities on the importance of dividing and disposing waste correctly so that it can be reused with a new life-cycle.
The initiative also supports Expo 2020’s objective to engage with the community and expand the impact of sustainability beyond the physical 4.38 sqkm site – inspiring a positive legacy after Expo ends in April 2021.
Expo 2020, which has set a goal to segregate, treat and divert 85 per cent of waste from landfill, also has a stand at WFES, a seven-day global sustainability event, where visitors can learn about various other Expo 2020-related sustainability initiatives.
For example, T-shirts made from recycled plastic bottles by DGrade, an official Expo 2020 licensee, are also on display, showcasing Expo 2020’s commitment to recycling and upcycling as part of the circular economy.
Innovations that address various sustainability issues and are supported by Expo Live, Expo 2020’s USD 100 million global innovation and partnership programme, are also featured at the Expo 2020 stand.
Dulsco was announced as Expo 2020’s Official Waste Management Partner in January 2019.
