DEWA Organises Training For Employees With Institute For The Future On Shaping And Anticipating The Future
(5 January 2020)

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised a specialised training programme with the Institute for the Future to shape and anticipate the future. This is part of DEWA’s commitment to providing an ideal and inspiring work environment to create and innovate and for staff to understand the future and its tools. The training was held at DEWA Campus for Occupational and Academic Development in Al Hudaiba, Dubai. Around 30 DEWA employees from different sectors attended the training.

The specialised training programme discussed the tools for shaping and anticipating the future and ways of implementing them. It also highlighted developing and managing strategies and policies to anticipate the future in partnership with stakeholders internally and externally. The training also discussed planning special frameworks in this field to improve and organise internal and external work procedures, as well as building effective partnerships locally, regionally, and globally to enhance DEWA’s role in shaping the future. At the end of the programme, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, awarded the participants with certificates as experts in anticipating the future.

“DEWA supports its employees in their careers and personal life. It is responsible for providing them with the needed tools to become effective partners in shaping the future. We are committed to investing in our staff. This stems from our realisation that our employees are the most important component for continuous success and excellence and our keeping pace with the latest developments and rapid changes. We are inspired by the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who once observed, ‘You can’t wait for the future, but you have to build it.’ This achieves the UAE Centennial 2071 to make the UAE the world’s leading nation, and the Dubai Plan 2021 to make Dubai the preferred place to live, work, and visit. DEWA’s top management believes that happy and positive employees ensure the happiness of all those dealing with them,” said Al Tayer.

“DEWA partners with major public and private organisations to provide a stimulating and positive work environment that contributes to enhancing employees’ efficiency and loyalty. We are committed to the capacity building of our staff through workshops, seminars, and events that enable sharing knowledge and experiences. This supports our efforts to shape and anticipate the future, keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, use disruptive technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Robots, Internet of Things, and 3D printing,” said Al Tayer.

“Our strategies, programmes, and initiatives are based on enhancing the concept of innovation and adopting the latest technologies across DEWA’s fields of work, contributing to achieving the objectives of the Future Government, most importantly to ensure society’s happiness. DEWA attaches great importance to investing in its human resources. We expect the participants of this training programme to improve DEWA’s work, preserve the gains, and achieve more successes in accordance with the wise leadership vision to build a brighter, happier, and more sustainable future for generations to come,” said Marwan bin Haider, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future at DEWA.

In November 2019, DEWA won the Great Place to Work Certification from the American Great Place to Work Institute which gives the certificate in collaboration with Fortune magazine to organisations for their excellence in providing the best working environment.
