Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) kick starts its Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) 2019 engagement with a series of activities including laughter yoga sessions for its community.
DFC, an initiative of HH Sheikh Hamadan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, aims to enhance the health and happiness of all participants in the city and drive Dubai to become the most active city in the world. To achieve this target, Dubai residents and organizations are encouraged to participate in 30 minutes of physical activity for 30 days. In its third edition, DFC focuses on the engagement of the health and wellness industry.
In line with its commitment for health and wellness, DHCC is to activate a month long program to mobilize its community of more than 10,000 workers around the emirate-wide initiative. The activity program will include weekly fitness classes for DHCC’s employees and laughter yoga sessions for its community.
During the first week, doctors, nurses and allied health professionals along with other professionals participated in the laughter yoga sessions which helped them de-stress and gave them a quick energy boost.
Founded in India in 1995 by a medical practitioner, Dr Madan Kataria, laughter Yoga, employs an exercise routine that combines yogic breathing with laughter.
“I am delighted to be a partner in the Dubai Healthcare City Program. Laughter exercises increase the supply of oxygen to the body tissues and scientific studies have shown that it boosts immunity, reduces stress and releases the happy feelings in the body.” said S. Ranganath, Laughter Yoga teacher and Meditation Yogi, from Laughter Yoga International.
In addition to the activities held in the free zone, DHCC employees will organize a weekly visit for the DFC fitness villages.
