Customers Council Reviews Dubai Business Community Needs
(15 September 2019)

The Customers Council of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has held a discussion panel with representatives of a broad spectrum of the business community in Dubai. The gathering aimed to screen the needs, views and suggestions of private entities about RTA’s public services and other issues of common concern.

Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, RTA Board Member and Head of Customers Council, opened the session by stressing the commitment of RTA to deliver best-in-class services to all community members. “Serving the business community is a focal part of our service portfolio as the sector offers valuable logistical support to RTA’s projects. Our gathering today is part of the Government’s strategy of caring for clients and RTA’s goals of boosting customers’ satisfaction and happiness with continuously improving services. RTA will give serious consideration to all suggestions made by Customers’ Councils, and make every effort to implement viable proposals in the interest of all parties,” he commented.

The council discussed a host of ideas and proposals such as collaborating with Dubai Municipality in intensifying the monitoring of vehicles parked for prolonged periods at various places of the Emirate, and to spot and issue offence tickets to vehicles abandoned or offered for sale on sandy areas. A call was made to clear such vehicles to an assembly point and maintain the civilized image of Dubai.

The council will look into a proposal to link the system of insurance providers and auto dealers with the local and federal traffic systems. It is believed that such a link will streamline the retrieval of vehicle details and cut short the time of vehicle registration.

The council will also study a suggestion to enable auto showrooms to view the history of vehicles from the moment of entering the country up to customs and registration as well as details of the traffic file including accidents and offences. Such information will help auto dealers with the buying and selling of vehicles and protect the interest of all parties. The council will examine a request of insurers to review the technical details relating to the writing-off of vehicles at the technical testing centres, which often involves considerable losses to underwriters.

At the end of the session, representatives of companies thanked the chair and members of RTA’s Customers Council for holding such gatherings as they offer a platform to assess the feedback of corporate and individual clients about RTA services in an objective and transparent manner. They also called for boosting the partnership between RTA and companies representing a wide range of the business sector in Dubai.
