21 Thousand Trainees Benefits From CoDI Training Courses
(13 April 2019)

The TRA announced that more than 21,000 trainees from more than 50 countries have benefited from the programs and training courses offered by the Center of Digital Innovation (CoDI), both within its HQ at the TRA building in Dubai, and through the various channels provided by CoDI, such as publications, external lectures, video files, and distance training.

CoDI employs latest digital distance training technologies to reach out to the widest range of people wishing to train in the UAE and abroad. CoDI is part of TRA’s efforts to spread the culture of digital transformation and new trends, such as Artificial Intelligence, Open Data, e-Participation and more through courses offered free of charge.

Commenting on this subject, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, TRA Director General, said: “When H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, launched the Smart Government Initiative in 2013, the TRA took over the development and implementation of the digital transformation strategy under the keen supervision of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and The Future. CoDI played a pivotal role in that strategy, with the task of strengthening competencies and spreading the culture of digital government. Since then, CoDI has developed its work in line with global developments and local needs.”

He added: “Training and Skills Development is a key practice of CoDI to promote the digital process in the UAE. As such, CoDI aims to develop and disseminate best practices through seminars, training programs and partnerships with educational organizations in order to implement such practices in the design and delivery of smart government services. We are proud today to have contributed to the development of human cadres capable of keeping pace with modern technology towards the achievement of UAE Vision 2021 and the objectives of the National Agenda.”

As for courses and training sessions from which trainees took advantage, Eng. Majid Almadhloum, Senior Director of CoDI at the TRA and representative of the Arab Region in the ITU Group on Capacity Building, said: “Training in CoDI is conducted according to three categories. The first is business management, which includes the definition of ICT, Internet security, smart project management, social networking basics, electronic correspondences and digital marketing. The second is the personal skills development category and includes programs in self-management, teamwork, creativity and innovation, positive thinking, time management, communication and presentation skills. The third is the technical skills category, including IoT programs, data science and Big Data, AI, among others.”

Eng. Almadhloum noted that the training programs at CoDI come under the supervision of a select group of specialists who are best able to communicate, adding: “CoDI follows innovative training methods that offer training to all, anywhere, anytime. The Virtual Academy is one of the best examples as it offers free training programs for all who wish to take part in them. The number we have reached today affirms the success of CoDI in attracting the youth who want to develop their skills in various ICT-related fields, and indicates the success of policies and plans adopted by the TRA to underline the importance of this vital sector and its role in shaping the future of the UAE.”

CoDI provides a stimulating environment for innovation, research, exploring new ways to develop and deliver smart government services, and providing a central platform for cooperation. CoDI also incorporates a comprehensive laboratory to ensure quality smart government services and help government entities and academia achieve a common level of performance, safety and quality on new and emerging access channels. In addition, CoDI provides advisory services to drive the transition to smart government by providing support, assistance and guidance in service implementation and development.
