The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced holding a live interactive digital session through its social media account on Twitter (UAETRA), in 17 June 2019. A number of TRA project managers will join the live discussion to speak about the latest developments in TRA’s projects and related future visions. They will also respond to the followers’ questions about these projects. This interactive session is part of TRA’s efforts in raising awareness, increasing the level of community’s happiness with the digital government, supporting the e-Participation efforts, and providing a practical model for other government entities to enhance the efforts of interaction with the public.
TRA invited all interested parties to participate in this interactive session, by tweeting all their questions related to the mGovernment and its services, and by sharing their ideas and suggestions for accelerating the process of digital transformation and supporting the UAE mGovernment objectives.
This session is planned to last for one hour and will cover subjects such as: Bashr (Doing business in 15 minutes), digital signature, Mabrouk Ma Yak, SmartPass, big data, open data, future of digital government, e-Participation, sustainable Development Goals efforts, digital government services, and training services (CoDI).
H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, will participate in answering the public’s questions, in addition to H.E. Salem Al Housani, Acting Deputy Director General for information & e-Government Sector, and a number of managers and specialists in the various proposed topics.
Moreover, TRA has identified the hashtag #AskTRA for receiving the questions, and invited the participants to use the hashtag in order to identify the questions and respond to them. The hashtag is now available and people can start tweeting their comments or inquiries to TRA.
On this digital meeting, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, said: “TRA is keen on activating all channels of communication with the public in order to enhance participation and interaction for services and policies development. TRA is also keen on hearing and responding to the views and inquiries of the public, to enhance transparency. Our wise leadership has taught us to be closer to the public, to reach out to them before they reach out to us, and to shape the future based on their expectations and hopes, thus getting closer to our ultimate goal, the customers’ happiness.”
Al Mansoori stressed that the followers’ questions and suggestions will receive full attention of TRA and will be used to improve the level of the provided services. He added: “This session is part of TRA’s efforts to introduce its proactive and sustainable smart services, such as Bashr that shorten the time for establishing economic projects to 15 minutes, and the digital signature that provides access to various online services as well as signing documents digitally, which saves a lot of time and efforts. We have seen the public’s desire for more knowledge about these services, which we will provide during this live digital session.”
H.E. Al Mansoori highlighted that this interactive digital session is a modern representation of the open door policy adopted by the UAE Government, where there are no barriers between the officials and the customers. He said: “Today’s great developments require new easier, faster and more efficient ways of communications with the public, and that is the aim of this interactive digital meeting. We will use the great development of the telecom sector, and the huge popularity of social media, to hold this live session, which will gather more than 15 manager and director from TRA to interact with the public on Twitter, without any barriers. The door is open for everyone to tweet their questions, and they will receive the response immediately from the person in charge, and without using readily prepared answers. This session is an advanced model of transparency and an innovative communication way between the officials and customers that we are working to disseminate among all government entities in the near future.”
Furthermore, TRA oversees the management of a number of national smart projects and initiatives, to benefit from the new era of telecom and big data for accelerating work in all fields and achieving best results as well as the UAE Vision 2021 and National Agenda Goals, in addition to making the UAE the first globally in various fields.
