14th Hemaya International Forum Begins In Dubai Tomorrow

This year, the Hemaya International Forum features a rich comprehensive agenda and is expected to attract over 1500 visitors and participants from all over the world while 22 local and international expert speakers will offer their insights and share their unique experiences during 15 scientific sessions and 7 specialized workshops on various topics related to combating drug abuse and addiction as well as the efforts undertaken to reduce their impact on our communities


 

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, the 14thedition of Hemaya International Forum will be held from the 28th to the 29th of April at the Madinat Jumeirah Conference and Events Center in Dubai, that will discuss “the Role of Security, Education and Research Institutions in Countering Drugs and Psychotropic Substances: The Current and Future Challenges” under the theme ‘Learn to Protect’.

This year, the Hemaya International Forum features a rich comprehensive agenda and is expected to attract over 1500 visitors and participants from all over the world while 22 local and international expert speakers will offer their insights and share their unique experiences during 15 scientific sessions and 7 specialized workshops on various topics related to combating drug abuse and addiction as well as the efforts undertaken to reduce their impact on our communities.

The forum will address 4 main topics related to the fight against drug abuse and addiction such as Knowledge & scientific gaps’ challenges and its impact on combating narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, The academic and training role of the smart and electronic programs in combating drug abuse, The scope of the relationship between the law enforcement bodies and the educational institutions and the mechanisms for consolidating sustainable partnerships among them and Social responsibility of governmental and private institutions in supporting security and educational institutions to combat drug abuse.

Key Objectives of Hemaya International Forum:

Hemaya International Forum primarily aims to discuss the complex relationship between drugs & psychotropic substances and the academic curricula in terms of their effect on the strategies and drug control policies. In addition, the forum aims to particularly address the educational and scientific gaps between different specializations related to drugs and psychoactive substances while also exploring the key roles played by smart and electronic programs in overcoming the proliferation of drugs & psychotropic substances. Moreover, the forum aspires to discuss the key relationship between the law enforcement bodies and the educational institutions to combat drugs, learn about the most important international and Arab experiences in this field and train personnel in drug control agencies and those concerned with encountering drugs abuse problems.

 A rich, diverse and comprehensive Conference Agenda: 

Hemaya International Forum offers a unique platform for industry experts to focus their attention on a number of important topics related to drugs and its impact on our community where H.E. Abdulmajeed bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences will speak about ‘Challenges of the Knowledge & Scientific Gap in addition to its Considerations to Encounter Drug Abuse and Psychotropic Effects’, Dr. Ali Wardak, Professor of Criminology, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of South Wales will focus on

‘Opium Production and Trafficking: Gaps in Research and Academic Knowledge’ and Expert Mustafa Erten, UNODC Project Coordinator in charge of Law Enforcement related topics in the GCC Region will address ‘Roles & Benefits of TOT Approach in Enhancing Expertise of Security, Education & Research Institutions in Countering Drugs & Psychotropic Substances’.

In addition Dr. Amr Osman, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity – General Manager of Fund for Drug Control and Treatment of Addiction will speak about ‘Endeavour to an Interdisciplinary Methodology to Combat & Prevent Drug Abuse and Psychotropic Substances Experience of Egypt as an Model’ and H.E. Brigadier Hussein Alshebli, Head of Bureau of Drug Issues will offer insights on ‘The Scope of Relationship Between Law Enforcing and Educational & Research Institutions in Addition to the Mechanisms of Consolidating Sustainable Partnership Among Them’. In other sessions, Dr. Ahmed Oraby, Head of Forensic Investigation at Dubai Police Academy and Senior Expert Jassim Al-Awadhi, Assistant Professor, Dubai Police Academy will focus their attention on ‘Security Academic Institutions & their Roles in Enhancing the Educational Programs Relevant to Combating Drugs, Between Reality and Aspirations’. 

Among other topics being discussed, David Robert Richards, CEO of Brynawel Drugs Rehabilitation – UK will speak about ‘The role of therapeutic institutions in applying the learning of academic researchers, in order to counter drug abuse and addiction’, while Dr. Khalid Masoud Head of Department of Forensic Chemistry (Toxics & Drugs Analysis), Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, Arab Interior Ministers Council will focus on his topic ‘Educational Efforts of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in Countering New Psychoactive Substances’.
