The Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Robots Forum called for better technology in the sports sector to improve the competitive role of athlete, coach, referee and fans.
In recommendations following two days of discussions, participants at the forum, held by the National Olympic Academy, recognised the importance of the use of technology in sport.
Participants recommended the establishment of a platform for companies engaged in sports as well as start-ups and universities. The focus needs to be on two or three disciplines at the initial stage to foster the vital technology set up in the sports sector.
The forum reviewed the impact of technology on the global sport and how athletes, coaches, fans, sports facilities and cities can benefit from the Internet of Things technology. Fields discussed included the organising of a sports event using Artificial Intelligence under the theme Smart Sport. Discussions also covered means of cooperation between the sports sector and universities in implementing the smart means in sport and carrying out applied research besides benefiting from the experience and academic knowledge.
Attendees also recommended forming a scientific committee to work with the NOC to establish the scientific standards and principles for improving sport, athletes and officials. They also praised the cooperation between the National Olympic Academy with all sports academies in the UAE to consolidate ideas and techniques for the good of the sport. They also called for caring to genetic sciences for importing the sports performance of youngsters and undertaking the Olympic Champion project.
