(21 February 2019)
Both parties explore means of cooperation and strengthening partnership to develop services for customers

HE Justice Zaki bin Azmi, Chief Justice of Dubai International Financial Centre Courts (DIFC Courts), paid a visit to the Dubai Land Department (DLD) where he was welcomed by HE Sultan Butti bin Mejren, Director General of DLD. Bin Mejren explained the workflow and the best practices that positioned Dubai seventh place globally in term for property transfer world wide— with the plans of becoming first — in the ease and speed of real estate registration. This visit came as part of DLD's eagerness to explore means of cooperation, strengthen relations, and share best global practices and experiences. The DIFC Courts delegation included HE Justice Omar Juma Al Muhairi, HE Justice Ali Shames Al Madhani, HE Justice Shamlan Al Sawalehi, and Ahmed Al Kamali.

Bin Mejren expressed his delight in welcoming the visiting delegation, stressing the importance of such visits that strengthen cooperation and partnership between the various public and private sector institutions and entities in Dubai.

Bin Mejren added: "We are delighted to welcome the DIFC Courts delegation within the framework of cooperation and coordination between all Government entities, with the aim of improving work practices, discussing and exploring means of cooperation, and providing an attractive and transparent investment environment for all parties, including investors inside and outside Dubai."

Judge Bin Azmi commented: "We are seeking to benefit from the experiences and expertise of DLD's advanced technologies and facilities. It is our pleasure to share our knowledge with them, and I am sure we will develop our relationship for the benefit of both parties so that we may best support our community."

DIFC Courts has over 10 years of experience in resolving complex and cross-border disputes, and implements an English-based, international, commercial justice system as well as common law. DIFC Courts has the necessary competencies and expertise to help provide overall guidance to their partners by including selected judges with international experience in all business and finance aspects.

DIFC Courts employs technology to enhance its judicial excellence and efficiency and is developing the first court in the world that relies on digital transaction technology. In February 2018, DIFC Courts became the region's first legal system to utilise the new cloud-based e-document technology to securely and remotely download judicial documents. This service is based on a modern court management system that enables judges, lawyers, and court officials to access case information in different formats across multiple sites and share them with a large number of users.
