The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) celebrated its strategic partners from government and private sectors on the sidelines of its Fifth Annual Retreat, which was held at the Rotana Hotel in Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi, in recognition of the importance of the partnership between TRA and government and private entities in achieving the UAE National Agenda and UAE Vision 2021, in the fields of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Artificial Intelligence, service provision, enhancing integration in achieving the goals, and achieving TRA vision to make the UAE world leader in ICT.
In his opening speech, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, thanked the partners and all those who supported TRA in enhancing the country's global presence in ICT, emphasizing the importance of strategic partnerships to achieve the UAE’s vision and objectives, global leadership, and happiness and prosperity of the UAE community. Al Mansoori added: “Dear partners, You have supported us in the past, and we would like this support to continue in the future, to face the challenges ahead - our need today is greater than ever to work as a team ... The challenges are great and the missions are heavy. TRA has big responsibilities, including the sector’s regulation and enabling digital transformation, thus, TRA needs your cooperation as always. The wise leadership has constantly highlighted the importance of partnership in the government work. H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid said: ‘Private sector institutions are partners in development, and have an active and key role in building societies of tomorrow.’ The future is what we make together as a team ... We share its burdens and harvest its fruits together, and I hope that TRA has contributed equally to your goals, because we believe that partnership is a two-way relationship that embodies the spirit of cooperation to achieve noble goals that benefit all parties and ultimately reflect on our beloved country.”
H.E. Al-Mansouri underlined the importance of strategic partnership between all sectors working in the country. He said: "In the era of Artificial Intelligence, digital city, Internet of Things and the fourth industrial revolution, there are an exchange of roles between government and companies, compulsory joint-missions that both parties must undertake, and areas for positive competition between the parties. The United Nations has confirmed that its 17 Sustainable Development Goals are not solely the government tasks, but it is a joint mission between the government and private sectors. Sustainable development has two wings: the government and the private sectors, It cannot fly with one without the other."
During the event, TRA honored its partners from the government as well as the private sectors, in addition to the operators, IT companies and others who supported the success of TRA strategic plans in the smart transformation process, whose cooperation had a clear impact on the success of TRA strategic plans in achieving the country’s global leadership in the field of ICT.
Moreover, TRA honored its strategic partners in the organization of the 20th edition of the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference. The honoring included the members the tourism sector, who achieved ‘exceptional rating’ according to the initiative of ICT Rating of services the tourist places. The "ICT Rating" initiative is part of ‘Esaad’ initiative, which comes under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
TRA held its Annual Retreat in the presence of H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, his deputies, the directors and managers as well as the employees, in order to identify and discuss plans for the ICT sector future in the UAE. They exchanged views and ideas that would contribute to the development of TRA’s work and maintain its exceptional creative environment that has been a key factor in TRA’s excellent achievements.
