His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Saud Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain and Chairman of the Executive Council, and in the presence of H.E. Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community and Development and H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, has inaugurated the Digital Government KIDX Platform at Umm Al Quwain Youth Hub. The Digital Government KIDX Platform was developed by the Ministry of Community Development and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).
This platform is the first of its kind in the region targeting children and adolescents through an interactive digital environment using games and VR technologies to introduce community participation as well as the UAE government entities and their services.
Moreover, the interactive game “Kidx”, which is included in the platform, has been launched during the ceremony. The exciting game stimulates the children to undertake many missions and face challenges in the corporate sectors and departments that the child has been introduced to. The launch ceremony was held at Umm Al Quwain Youth Hub as part of the UAE Innovation Month activities.
The Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain viewed the Interactive Youth Lab, which is one of the innovative initiatives launched by TRA, represented by TRA Youth Council. It aims at activating the role of youth and investing their creative abilities in discovering and exploring solutions and ideas that contribute to the development of government initiatives and the smart government sector.
H.E. Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development (MOCD) said that the Digital Government Kidx is in line with the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation President of Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, in relation to caring for children, based on a firm conviction that the children today are the real wealth of the country, and they receive full care and attention of the country and its wise leadership.
She indicated to the strategies of motherhood and childhood and the rights of people of determination 2017-2021, which were launched by the ‘Mother of the Nation ‘ to be used as guidance for the development of programs and executive plans to enable mothers and children to exercise their rights and move them forward to serve the country and its citizens, in accordance with the country’s vision and keenness to raise the future generations and enable them to be good and effective members of society, in line with the UAE vision 2021 until reaching the 2071 UAE Centennial.
H.E. the Minister added that the Digital Government Kidx Platform is a sustainable informative platform. It is the result of a national developmental partnership between the MOCD and TRA and considered an added value to the culture and knowledge of our children and students. It develops the sense of positive and aware personality to the reality and achievement of the country as well as the future requirements of work and commitment to achieve what is needed to preserve the excellence and leadership of our beloved country, and to achieve the happiness and well-being of its loyal citizens.
The MOCD Minister expressed her pleasure in collaborating with TRA and her gratitude for its efforts in this project, which reflects its smart future shaping vision that enhances the culture of sustainability, especially in relation to motto of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, "Leave no one behind". Through this project, TRA and MOCD address a precious group of society, the children and adolescents, to ensure their inclusion in the live interaction aimed at creating the desired development in present and future.
H.E. the MOCD Minister indicated that the platform’s concept takes into consideration the rights of the child set forth in the UAE Child Right's Law “Wadeema”, especially the right to access all information that brings knowledge and interest to him/her. The smart platform informs the child about the comprehensive cultural situation of the country, and introduces him/her through purposeful entertaining steps to the achievements of the government so they can benefit through self-learning virtual practices, which widen the new generation’s horizons towards future shaping.
H.E. explained that one of the main objectives of the Digital Government Kidx Platform is to educate children about the UAE Government and provide them with government information, through innovative guiding mechanisms that are appropriate to their age, to raise a conscious generation that is fully aware of its duties towards the country and the government, and to encourage the children to propose ideas on the development of government services to meet their aspirations.
