The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) held a meeting in its Dubai office to brief strategic partners on its best practices in innovation, by presenting and discussing TRA’s innovation system and its specific procedures, standards and systems. The meeting is part of TRA’s activities for the Innovation Month, and has been attended by representatives of the Ministry of Justice, The Department of Energy, and Sheikh Zayed Housing Program.
Commenting on this meeting, Eng. Saif Bin Ghelaita, Director of Technology Development Affairs and Innovation CEO in TRA said: “Innovation is a key driver of TRA’s work. As a regulator of this sector, we have to support innovation and innovators, and adopt all new solutions that could accelerate business and achieve excellence in the sector, in order to reach the best results in the UN Sustainable Development Indicators. We are fortunate to live in a country that embraces innovators with a wise leadership that adopts the innovation approach.”
During the meeting, Eng. Saif Bin Ghelaita, Director of Technology Development Affairs and Innovation CEO in TRA, presented a detailed explanation on TRA’s innovations system, including a review of the results of 2015-2017 and the upcoming changes based on lessons learned and policies adopted in this field that led to major progress. This meeting comes in the context of TRA’s keenness to share its successful innovation experience with its strategic partners in the public and private sectors, in line with the directives of the wise leadership, which urges sharing experiences and team work to achieve the UAE Vision 2021 and the National Agenda.”
The meeting introduced the mechanism and criteria of idea evaluation, the innovation management framework in TRA, which deals with the innovation scope, innovation process, supporting techniques, innovation tools, in addition to the skills and capacities of human resources in the field of innovation and its culture.
The meeting also included a visit to the Center of Digital Innovation (CoDI) where Eng. Majid Almadhloum, Director of CoDI and member of the Innovation team in TRA, presented the work and projects implemented by CoDI and its important role in the digital transformation process based on innovation.
TRA has been awarded the European Standard Certification in the Innovation Management System (CEN / TS 16555-1: 2013), as a result of its work in developing an integrated innovation management system at corporate level, achieving leadership in the implementation of innovative proposals and service provision according to international standards.
