Emirates Islamic Continues To Boost Its Nationalisation Drive At Sharjah National Career Exhibition 2019
(3 February 2019)

As part of the bank's strategy to boost nationalisation efforts, Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the UAE, and the preferred bank for UAE nationals has announced its participation at the Sharjah National Career Exhibition (6 - 8 February, Expo Centre Sharjah). The bank's participation is in line with its commitment to support the UAE's Emiratisation drive, aimed at increasing the pool of UAE national talent in the banking sector.

At the event, held exclusively for UAE nationals, the bank will offer a wide range of career opportunities across its various departments in addition to on-the-spot entries for potential candidates, experienced Emiratis and as well as university and high school graduates.

"As one of the leading Islamic banks in the UAE, we have a long-standing commitment to nurturing UAE national talent by providing them a solid training foundation in addition to career opportunities and development after they graduate," said Marwan Salem Abunawas AlMheiri, Chief Human Resources Officer at Emirates Islamic.

"Participating at career exhibitions gives us an opportunity to meet potential candidates face to face and recruit a new batch of enthusiastic, ambitious, skilled and highly qualified graduates. Over the past few years, we have employed more than 300 Emiratis from Sharjah and 380 from Dubai through employment fairs held in these two emirates. Currently, Emiratisation accounts for more than 24% of the bank's total number of employees, and more than a third of them work in managerial positions. We are glad to exceed our target in the Emiratisation Points system endorsed by the Council of Ministers for the financial and banking sector, and enforced earlier in 2018," added AlMheiri.

Emirates Islamic runs a series of industry-leading training programmes in coordination with the Emirates Institute for Banking & Financial Studies (EIBFS) to train Emirati youth and give them an opportunity to contribute to the growth of Islamic finance in the UAE. A total of 225 UAE national school graduates have completed training under the Al Mustaqbal programme, while 30 university graduates have been trained under the 'Future Relationship Managers' programme since its launch in December 2017.

'Al Mustaqbal', a six-month programme for school graduates up to the age of 20, includes both class room and on-job training, with successful trainees then being deployed permanently across various divisions of Emirates Islamic. The bank's Future Relationship Managers programme is a seven-month training designed for Emirati university graduates with the aim of developing them into Relationship Managers roles in the Wealth Management division of the bank. In addition, the bank also offers Uni Grad, a training programme for Emirati college students interested in a banking career. Open to UAE National university graduates up to the age of 27, the 6-month course is a fast-track career development initiative.
