With the completion of its first National Accelerator Programme (NAP), Etihad Credit Insurance (ECI), the UAE Federal export credit company, has further strengthened its Emiratisation initiative to support Emirates' strategy to increase the number of UAE nationals in the country's workforce.
The NAP initiative by ECI is aligned with the UAE Vision 2021 and not only encourages skill development and talent involvement in the government export credit insurance sector, but also supports the government's strategy to promote the participation of UAE nationals in strategic economic sectors.
The first of its kind in the UAE, the NAP provides specialised training to young Emirati nationals, focusing on the significance and functions of ECI in stimulating and sustaining the UAE's non-oil exports, trade, and investments.
The 18-week training programme was specially designed to give young Emiratis a better understanding of export credit insurance. In line with the government's efforts to attract UAE nationals into the workforce, the nine NAP participants, who received intensive training through select leading industry professionals and academicians of reputed institutions, were subsequently employed by ECI. The training programme educated the participants on the significance of export credit institutions and gave them practical experience in the operational aspects of ECI, its set-up, policy objectives and key product offerings.
H.E. Engr. Saed Al Awadi, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Export Development Corporation, and Board Member and Chairman of the Executive Committee at ECI, said: "ECI has always been committed to the country's goals of investing in the potential of UAE nationals and in improving their skill set. Our latest initiative, the National Accelerator Programme (NAP), is highly significant as it is aligned with the country's objective of unlocking the potential of its citizens and enabling them to be a driving force in the transformation of the UAE. On this occasion of the successful completion of the NAP, I would like to congratulate the trainees and likewise wish them all the best for their journey at ECI."
Massimo Falcioni, Chief Executive Officer at ECI, commented: "The National Accelerator Programme is a significant stride towards ECI's Emiratisation strategy, which is aligned with government's nationalisation policies. In order to support dynamic national workforce in realising their potential and in enabling them to contribute to the growth of the UAE economy, this programme will empower each of these NAP trainees to support ECI's business strategy, and assist UAE businesses to boost their local presence as well as expand their global footprint."
Safiya Al Matrooshi, Director of Human Capital at ECI, added: "With the successful completion of NAP, ECI has not only expanded its team with bright young professionals, but also strengthened its commitment to the UAE's Emiratisation initiative. We believe that the comprehensive on-the-job training these participants received has prepared them to take on their designated roles at ECI today, and to become the leaders in the sector tomorrow."
