DUBAI, 17th February, 2019 – More than 70 pilots representing 20 countries will participate in the 'Dubai Masters First International Freestyle Air Race 2019', which will be held from 23th to 27th February at Skywalk RC on the Dubai-Al Ain Road.
The race’s organising committee held a press conference at the Sky Hot REC Club, which was attended by Nasr Hammouda Al Niyadi, Head of the Organising Committee and Chairman of the Emirates Federation for Air Sports; Ahmed bin Dumaithan, Chairman of the Technical Committee; Tariq Al Saadi, Director of the Championship; Mansour Al Baloushi, CEO of Sanad Company, the major sponsor of the championship, and Salem Akram, Chairman of the Public Relations and Transport Committee.
During the press conference, Al Niyadi thanked H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, for his patronage and ongoing support for general air sports and the championship’s current edition while noting that the UAE, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, South Africa and Ecuador are among the countries that will participate in the event, whose awards will amount to US$70,000, with the winner of each race receiving $7,500.
World champion Tariq Al Saadi praised the support of Sheikh Hamdan while noting that the world’s ten leading pilots will participate and that there are three categories, which are "Helicopter," "Jet" and "Jet Propeller Aircraft."
Ahmed bin Dumaithan said that the championship’s jury members, who will come from Germany, Spain, Switzerland and Malaysia, are all accredited by the International Air Sports Federation. Al Baloushi stressed that the Sanad Academy will provide technical support to the championship and coordinate with relevant authorities, especially the Civil Aviation Authority.
He added that the country will be represented by five pilots, including the youngest pilot in the world, Nasser Ahmed Nasser, who is seven years old, as well as Ahmed Nasser, Tamer Awadh Al Shamsi, Abdullah Jassem and Mohammed Dalmouk Al Dhaheri.
