Dubai Customs Wins Organisation-Wide Innovation Award
(25 December 2018)

Dubai Customs has crowned its achievements in 2018 by winning the 2nd Organisation - Wide Innovation Award from the Global Organisational Excellence Congress, hosted by Abu Dhabi in December 2018.

Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazim, Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence at Dubai Customs, Hussain Al Fardan, Dubai Customs’ Innovation Centre senior manager and the team received the grand shield.

The 2nd Organisation-Wide Innovation Award was held in Abu Dhabi, from 10th to 12th December, 2018, as part of the congress. The congress, attended by 1,300 delegates, was hosted by the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and supported by key partners, the Centre for Organisational Excellence Research, COER, Asia Pacific Quality Organisation and the Global Benchmarking Network.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih said, "We keep evolving. With this volatile market, you have to keep moving and developing. These achievements are a reflection of the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, of turning innovation into an integrated methodology that involves all areas of the workplace. The result is 94 grand awards for Dubai Customs including 69 international awards and 25 local ones."

Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazim, Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence at Dubai Customs said, "The year 2018 was a special one for Dubai Customs as we worked hard to spread the innovation culture internally and externally. More than 100 local and international organisations visited us for benchmarking. More than 20,000 ideas were submitted by employees through different channels of Dubai Customs. Of these, 25 percent were feasible and this is the highest percentage of feasible ideas that Dubai Customs has reached since the establishment of its innovation systems."

Kazim added that they launched 22 innovation initiatives in 2018 which included 16 new innovations, which led to 17 awards. A total of 30 visits and networking events were organised with other government and private sector organisations.
