The Emirates Philatelic Association, EPA, participated in the THAILAND 2018 World Stamp Exhibition, which was held from 28th November to 3rd December, 2018.
The EPA’s participants in the exhibition, which hosted representatives from 80 countries, won several laurels for their entries. Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr won a gold medal and a special prize for his exhibit, entitled "The Cancellations and Postal History of Muscat 1830-1948." Thomas Johansen also won a gold medal for his exhibit, "Muscat: The Development of the Indian Post Office in Eastern Arabia, 1864-1948." Abdulla Khoory won a gold medal for "Dubai Postal History," and Ahmad bin Eisa Alserkal won two gold medals for his exhibits, "Abu Dhabi Stamps 1963-1973," and "Postal History Study of Airmail from Iraq 1919-1945."
Nasser bin Ahmad Al Serkal won a silver medal for "Dubai Stamps." In the youth class exhibits, Apurya Ganesan won a bronze medal for her exhibit, "Flowers and Flora," Vasanth Kumaran Ganesan won a bronze for "Monuments of the World," and Adithya Sarma won a bronze for his exhibit, "Conserve Wildlife."
Ali Abdulrahman Ahmad was a "National Commissioner" during the event, whose organisers also invited Muhammad Javaid as a juror, and Khalid Ali Al Omaira as an apprentice juror.
The UAE also participated in the 75th Congress of Federation of Internationale de Philatelie, FIP, which was held during the exhibition, represented by Khalid Ali Al Omaira, EPA Vice President, and Ali Abdulrahman Ahmad, EPA Treasure. A new FIP president was elected during the congress.
The association’s achievements have enhanced the UAE's prestige in the world of philately.
