Demand for contact lenses has grown by an impressive 4.4% in the UAE in 2018, according to GfK – the leading global market research organisation and official knowledge partner of Dubai Optical Show Vision-X (DOSV-X) organised by DV Global Link, a joint venture between Dubai World Trade Centre and Italian Exhibition Group.
Growth in the lens sector is driven by the increasing popularity of daily contact lenses, in the spherical and beauty categories. DV Global Link has hailed positive news as a huge boost to exhibitors participating in this year's DOSV-X, as the show's reputation continues to rise considerably in local and international industry circles.
GfK found that demand for both prescription and beauty lenses in the UAE has increased by 3.2% and 5.7% respectively, highlighting the local market's notable growth, thus emphasising the pivotal role DOSV-X, which takes place from November 13th to 15th, plays in terms of its geographical location and strategic relevance for manufacturers, retailers, and suppliers.
As anticipation and excitement surrounding this year's event continues to gain significant momentum, so too does interest from important international optical industry players. Having identified the MENA region as one of the most important markets of the future, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) has confirmed it will be showcasing a full pavilion of Italian participants at DOSV-X. The ITA sees the show as a key step in intensifying Italy's integrated promotional activities in the UAE and throughout the wider MENA region. The November event provides the perfect opportunity for Italian enterprises to increase market share and reap the high demand potential in such an important market, as well as strengthening existing relationships and fostering new business partnerships.
A full pavilion of German exhibitors participating, under the brand 'Made in Germany', has also been confirmed for DOSV-X 2018. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs & Energy (BMWi), and the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA), together with SPECTARIS and the German Industry Association for Optical, Medical and Mechatronical Technologies are excited to continue the strong economic relationship between Germany and the UAE at the event. Exhibitors consider DOSV-X to be of the utmost benefit to their business operations and market presence in the region. In addition, they see the show as an excellent opportunity to develop first contacts and solidify existing ones with local partners.
Such encouraging industry news, combined with the massive promotional and strategic opportunities presented by the Dubai Optical Show Vision-X, from November 13th to 15th at Dubai World Trade Centre, demonstrates exactly why the regions flagship optical industry has earned a status as the go-to platform for B2B in the Middle East.
