Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai, Dr. Ahmad bin Kalban, CEO of Hospital Services Sector at the Dubai Health Authority and Acting CEO of Clinical Support Services Sector inaugurated the 6th edition of the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction Middle East (ICJR ME), at the JW Mariott Marquis Hotel Dubai.
The Congress attracted worldwide attention, bringing together more than 1500 prestigious industry leaders and experts, specialized in the fields of orthopedics and sports injuries from over 50 countries. The congress aims to highlight the technological advancements to create inroads towards the next steps in joint reconstruction.
ICJR ME, along with its expert Scientific Committee, hosts joint reconstruction specialists from across the globe to present and deliberate on the contemporary industry developments, techniques and technologies. Additionally, the Congress will run a full-day cadaver lab and nursing training programs. Being awarded 40.5 Continuing Medical Education (CME) points accredited by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the ICJR will subsequently offer its participants and attendees the chance to earn 20.5 CME Credit Hours.
Commenting on the this year’s congress, Dr. Samih Tarabichi, Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon and Director General of Burjeel Hospital for Advanced Surgery, Dubai and also ICJR ME congress Chairman, said: “Hosting the sixth edition of the ICJR reflects our commitment and dedication to feature leading orthopedic technologies to the UAE and the region on a broader scale. This year’s Congress welcomes 70 local and international speakers and showcases over 100 scientific lectures on diverse topics, specifically in joint reconstruction and engineering, while featuring 3-D printing as a pioneering technology in the Middle East.”
He added: “We have designed the congress’ agenda to emphasize on advanced education and research and educate industry experts on up-to-date surgical mobility restoration techniques and the reconstruction of torn and injured shoulders, hips, knees and ankles to provide best practices and optimal solutions for patients in need”.
The ICJR ME 2018 will host more than 30 companies promoting their cutting-edge equipment, tools, and products. Serving as a networking platform for joint replacement suppliers and practitioner and will feature key-note speakers such as Dr. Wolfgang Klauser, Dr. Philip Chapman, Dr. David Blaha and Dr. Ludwig Seebauer.

In late 2007, the founders of the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction, each a recognized authority in orthopedic surgery, joined together to begin developing the next generation of education and community for physicians involved with joint reconstruction.
Established in 2011 as a regional subsidiary of ICJR, the conference has been successfully running for the past 6 consecutive years. It is a great platform to build networks and learn from medical professionals globally. It is the region’s largest gathering of Orthopedic professionals. Profits from ICJR ME activities are reinvested in the professional societies, charities and organizations relevant to the critical issues in orthopedics today.
