DJI Continues Operating Via Remote-Working Mechanisms
(8 April 2020)

As part of its keenness to fully comply with the precautionary measures approved by the relevant government agencies in the country, the Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI) announced that all amendments to the distribution of the budget will be made within the relevant prepared plans. In addition, DJI issued a circular postponing all events and training courses.

To deal with the current situation, DJI performed a complete maintenance of all its administrative and educational facilities, including its training halls, corridors, and rest areas. DJI also sterilised all its components and facilities, including the gymnasium that the institute allocates to members of the judiciary. Emphasising the importance of functioning work mechanisms, the Microsoft Team programme was created in cooperation with Smart Dubai to allow department managers to organise the necessary periodic meetings with their employees and follow up on work remotely.

Thanks to these combined arrangements, DJI was able to ensure the continuity of its administrative and technical work, including all employee affairs, and the implementation of all instructions issued by the competent authorities. DJI prepared a model for the executive council on the remote-working mechanism, the applied percentage, and the nature of DJI’s work. DJI also developed another model for human resources related to the remote-working mechanism at its offices.

HE Justice Dr Jamal Al Sumaiti, director general of DJI, commented: “Within the preventive and precautionary measures to deal with this exceptional circumstance, we decided to distribute the budget according to the usual circumstances and allocate a budget for these activities, which had been postponed until the issuance of instructions to resume all events, courses, and activities. DJI was one of the first government entities to implement the remote-working system to ensure the health and safety of its employees, trainers, and trainees, in response to the directives of the health authorities and in support of its efforts to limit the spread of the disease.”

During this period, the focus was on the need to deal with the trainees’ inquiries and respond to them, especially with regard to training programmes, by communicating with the training team, who is responsible for responding to each enquiry electronically. Each team is eligible for this through DJI’s programmes that prepared them and qualified them for that. The design of the general frameworks for the required diplomas within the training needs was also followed up with the teaching staff.

DJI also announced the availability of all references and books through its e-library to help students, researchers, and specialists continue their academic achievement. The Research and Studies Department is working to update all legislations as it has already completed the updating of personal status legislation, money laundering, discrimination, hate, penalties, insolvency, family violence, and the Law of Work Relations Regulation, bringing the number of legislation and laws to 22 issues.

The 11th issue of DJI’s scientific magazine (Al Mohakkama) was also published, containing research on telemedicine and some studies and legislation on artificial intelligence. It was provided electronically to all participants of DJI’s database and those who follow DJI’s activities and programmes.
