TRA Delegation Visits Denmark To Learn About Digital Transformation Practices

A delegation from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) chaired by H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, visited the Kingdome of Denmark to learn about its practices in smart cities and digital transformation. Denmark is the most digital country in the world according to the EU’s Digital, Economic and Society Index and the UN’s e-Government survey 2018.

Over the course of two days, the UAE delegation visited a number of relevant entities such as the Danish Agency for Digitalisation, the Agency for Governmental IT Services, ‘eboks’ for Digital communication, and ‘Bird&Bird’ Law firm.

On this visit, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, said: “The world's progress in the fields of technology and digital transformation is the result of joint efforts and interaction between the different peoples of the world. In the United Arab Emirates, under the directives of our wise leadership, we are keen to be active contributors to this renaissance through the exchange of knowledge and experience with others, to achieve the good of all mankind, and ensure the achievement of sustainable development for humanity.”

H.E. Al Mansoori emphasized that this visit is based on the Denmark great achievements in the fields of digital transformation and smart cities. He said: “This visit comes shortly after the UAE participation of the ITU Council session in Geneva, which had a positive impact on achieving the objectives of the Council. Today we visit the Kingdom of Denmark to learn about the most important practices in the areas of digital transformation and artificial intelligence. We are keen to share experiences and knowledge to serve the interests of the two countries and humanity in general. "

During the first day of the visit, the delegation learned about the F2 program developed by cBrain in collaboration with the Danish government, a model and standard application software for digital bureaucracy. The delegation also visited the Danish Agency for Digitalisation, an agency of the Ministry of Finance in charge of the government’s digitisation policies and implementation of the government´s digital ambitions. The delegation attended an overview on digitisation in Denmark, the relationship between the public and private sectors and how to adopt digitisation in commercial issues in Denmark.

The delegation also visited the Agency for Governmental IT (AGIS), responsible for operating an effective IT support service and for ensuring a high quality and consistent IT service across the Government. The delegation learned about the mechanisms of the Agency's work in the development of IT infrastructure operation adjusted to an appropriate division of work between the AGIS and clients, and the standardization of general administrative systems through the establishment of joint systems.

On the second day, the delegation visited e-Boks headquarters, which offers a secure electronic mailbox that provides businesses, government and citizens with an effective, secure and user-friendly platform for digital communication. The delegation learned about the mechanism through which more than 30 thousand public and private companies send more than 485 million documents via e-Boks.

The delegation also visited Bird & Bird, an international law firm focused on helping organizations being changed by technology and the digital world. The company operates throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America. During the visit, the delegation reviewed the mechanisms of applying the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which became applicable recently in the European countries.
