Dubai Future Academy, an initiative of the Dubai Future Foundation, has announced its sessions titled, "Pioneers Series" and "Insights of the Future" taking place in March.
The sessions aim to share best practices, exchange knowledge, equip the future generations with the tools and skillsets to address challenges as well as provide insights on the latest technologies and trends that are shaping the future.
Saeed Al Gergawi, Director of Dubai Future Academy, said, "Through its diverse sessions, Dubai Future Academy is dedicated to positioning Dubai as the world’s leading innovation hub by empowering and enabling its residents to acquire tools and skills sets needed to take on the challenges of tomorrow.
The Pioneer Series hosted by the renowned Professor Omar Yaghi from the University of California, Berkeley, USA, in a session highlighting cutting edge methods in harvesting drinking water from desert air.
Dr. Yaghi is one of the first scientists to be granted long-term visas in the UAE. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, last month honoured him for his outstanding lifetime scientific achievements with the "MBR Medal for Scientific Excellence".
Dr. Yaghi is the founding director of the Berkeley Global Science Institute, Co-director of the Kavli Energy NanoScience Institute and the California Research Alliance Centre of BASF. Over the years he has registered many scientific achievements including developing innovative ways to manufacture new materials and use their applications in several areas including biomolecules and the capture of gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen.
Dubai Future Academy also hosted a new series of "Insights of the Future" sessions, which brought together experts from government entities, international companies and youth. These sessions aim to exchange experiences and enhance future skills in emerging technology such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, 3D printing, etc.
The new sessions included topics in Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Investments in partnership with Dubai Blockchain Centre. The session highlighted the history and evolution of money and Blockchain technology considering its uses, impact and challenges related to safe investment.
On 25th March, participants will gain insights and learn about the Dubai 10X initiative and how the outcomes of the initiative are accelerating the process of innovation as well as positing Dubai as a global model for governments through the adoption of disruptive technologies.
