Customers Council Holds Open House For Franchise Companies
(4 January 2019)

The Customers Council of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has held its 98th annual gathering devoted to franchise companies operating in Dubai. The session also discussed means of improving services to clients of commercial transport activities.

Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, RTA’s Board Member and Head of Customers Council, attended the session along with Council Members and Directors from Public Transport Agency and Licensing Agency. Attendees also included representatives of franchise companies as well as corporate clients of commercial transport activities in Dubai.

Al Mulla opened the session by thanking RTA clients from franchise companies and commercial transport activities and hailed their efforts and cooperation, which is contributing to the image of Dubai as a business, tourist and service hub in the region. “As part of its third strategic objectives, RTA always seeks to bring happiness to customers, be it individuals or entities,” said Al Mulla.

The Council made several recommendations relating to commercial transport activities and Transport Activities Monitoring Department. Recommendations included studying the current market condition to assess the rising number of passenger transport vehicles involving unlicensed activities, which affect the business of some operators. Directives were made to protect the business of licensed operators as per the rules and procedures of the RTA.

Recommendations also called for listing violators, identifying the size of the current fleet, and acting appropriately as set by the RTA.

The Council recommended the Transport Activities Monitoring Department and the Planning and Business Development Department at the Public Transport Agency to look into the possibility of reducing fees applicable to limo operators. The call is prompted by the prevailing market condition marked by the influx of newly licensed operators for the sake of public interest. Such action will reflect on the convenience and happiness of passengers and protect an important transport sector in the Emirate.

The Council also recommended the Drivers Affairs Department to consider reducing the duration of obtaining permits for driving limousines as it will ease the burden on operators and enable utilising the time saved in serving the needs of companies for chauffeurs.

It also recommended RTA’s Finance Department to expedite the processing of procedures related to financial guarantees of Limousine and Franchise Companies, reply to them in case of delay and explain the reasons for such delay. Such actions will protect the corporate image of RTA, increase the satisfaction & happiness of clients, and serve the public interest.

At the end of the session, representatives of franchise companies and commercial transport operators thanked RTA for the attention and care for their comments and feedbacks through the Customers Council. They considered the Council an effective tool for leveraging services to measure up to customer satisfaction and happiness.
