Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that the free buses shuttling between the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) and Ibn Battuta Metro Stations had lifted 8 million riders from January to August 2018.
“RTA has been operating a free circular express bus service as an alternative to metro riders due to the suspension of the Metro service between the DMCC and Ibn Battuta Metro Stations on the Red Line. These alternative arrangements, which started on 5 January 2018, will continue to the middle of 2019,” said Mohammed Abu Baker Al Hashimi, Director of Planning & Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency.
“Construction works of Route 2020 comprise the construction of a new metro station and linking it with the Red Line. Consequently, Nakheel Harbour and Tower metro station and the attached multi-level Park-N-Ride terminal have been closed in full.
“The Public Transport Agency has launched this vital service to ensure a seamless ride of metro commuters. The initiative illustrates RTA’s tireless efforts to enhance the satisfaction and happiness of public transport riders. The service aims to address the needs of all clients, especially metro riders commuting between the two stations,” added Al Hashimi.
