Dubai Executive Council Approves Establishment Of Cardiovascular Centre
(7 October 2018)

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, said that the happiness and well-being of citizens and residents is central to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as he believes that people represent the greatest asset for growth.

Sheikh Hamdan added that improving healthcare services including specialised healthcare services is the top priority of the government.

"The UAE citizen is at the top of our priorities. All strategic government plans revolve around achieving welfare and stability for our citizens a well as comprehensive sustainable development in every sphere," Sheikh Hamdan said. "Dubai’s healthcare sector tops our priorities. This high priority enables us to ensure that we maintain the highest quality standards and develop policies and strategies for creating a world-class healthcare system."

His Highness also highlighted the role of the private sector in supporting national economic growth and contributing to Dubai’s efforts to create an advanced model for delivering healthcare services. "Our ability to forge successful partnerships with the private sector through a balanced system has made Dubai a distinctive model for development, and enabled it to cement its position across various sectors. Our long term plans and strategies based on such partnerships have allowed us to achieve sustainable development."

His Highness’s remarks came as the Executive Council approved the establishment of an international cardiovascular centre jointly developed by the public and private sectors. The centre was developed based on a proposal of the Dubai Healthcare Authority, DHA. He said the centre was an example of fruitful collaboration between the public and private sector to serve the wider public.

DHA said that the new cardiovascular centre will be equipped with best-in-class equipment and technologies, and will operate according to the highest international standards.

The centre will support Dubai’s vision to be one of the fastest growing cities in the world and attract foreign investment. It will also facilitate the transfer of knowledge and expertise related to the treatment of cardiovascular issues, which the World Health Organisation considers the main cause of death in the world.

The new centre is in line with Dubai’s growth needs. The emirate requires 300 beds for cardiovascular patients by 2030, an annual growth of seven percent between 2018 and 2030. The centre is part of the public-private partnership, PPP, plan created under the Dubai Plan 2021.
