The UAE Government Leaders Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office, PMO, at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future held a session of the UAE Government Leadership Talks series titled "Leading Future Scenarios" in partnership with du – an affiliate of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, EITC – and Nokia.
The session explored the developments transforming the global emerging technologies sector, forecasting variables, potential future scenarios, and the role of advanced technologies in building leadership skills to address the challenges of the future with tailored innovative solutions and plans.
The PMO’s Assistant Director-General for Leadership and Government Capabilities, Dr Yasir Alnaqbi, attended the session, along with Saqr Ahmed Al Maazmi, Director at the UAE Government Leaders Programme, as well as executives from Nokia and du, and UAE Government employees, while Leslie Shannon, Head of Ecosystem and Trends Scouting at Nokia, moderated the discussion.
Alnaqbi reaffirmed the UAE Government’s commitment to developing the skills of the national workforce and coaching Government officials across all sectors to effectively support efforts to achieve the objectives of the UAE Vision 2021 and UAE Centennial 2071 Plan.
The UAE Government Leadership Talks initiative seeks to improve communication and the exchange of expertise among national leaders in federal and local Government entities, as well as the private sector, he explained, adding that the event also highlights the latest global developments and trends in the strategic sectors of particular interest to the UAE Government.
The session shed light on the main sectors that will drive the digital transformation, most notably, virtual and augmented reality, 5G, data privacy, and information security, in addition to machine interfaces and how they interact with humans. The discussion underlined these sectors’ potential to boost future growth potential and provide employment opportunities for future generations.
