Al Tayer Insignia, the retail business of Al Tayer Group, announces its partnership with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to provide much-needed assistance to vulnerable refugee children in the Middle East region and beyond.
The Company has committed to running a series of campaigns over a 12-month period across its entire bricks and mortar and online retail business, giving partners, customers, employees and the community the opportunity to advocate for the cause, contribute financially and lend their voices to refugees. The first retail wide campaign to kick off the collaboration will launch November 20th to coincide with, and in celebration of, Universal Children’s Day, details of which will be announced in due course.
The aim is to raise a minimum of AED one million through donations as a result of public awareness initiatives, to assist UNHCR in their efforts to meet the urgent survival needs of refugees and internally displaced peoples (IDPs) in the MENA region, amid a global refugee crisis. Customer contributions will save refugee families in areas such as Jordan and Lebanon from falling deeper into debt and poverty, and from the risk of exploitation.
The provision of sustainable cash assistance to the most vulnerable refugee families will keep a roof over their heads, food on their table, clean water to drink, offer them protection from harsh weather conditions and send their children to school in an attempt to break the cycle of extreme poverty and offer this generation hope for a brighter future.
“There are 22.5 million refugees worldwide, 51% of whom are children, meaning that a whole generation of children would never be educated and would continue to live in fear and poverty and without hope for a brighter future, were it not for the sterling efforts of organizations such as the United Nations Refugee Agency,” said Khalid Al Tayer, CEO, Al Tayer Insignia. “Our Company’s CSR purpose is dedicated to providing assistance and care to the most vulnerable children in our community, therefore we are very happy to partner with the UNHCR this year, and hope that our collaboration will go some way to achieving our joint goals,” he continued.
