Private Sector Employees To Join UAE Government Leaders Programme
(24 September 2018)

The Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, represented by the "UAE Government Leaders Programme (UAEGLP)," has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation to groom future leaders by allocating spaces in each edition of the programme to private sector employees who are UAE citizens.

The MoU aims to support UAE nationals working in the private sector, provide them with development opportunities, enabling them to communicate with government employees, and to benefit from the experiences and practices of public sector pioneers.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Yasir Al Naqbi, Assistant Director-General for Leadership and Government Capabilities at the Prime Minister's Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, and Fatima Ali Al Houti, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, with the attendance of Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Ohoud bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness and Wellbeing and Director-General of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Al Hamli stated that the signing of the agreement is part of the programme’s efforts to prepare and empower young Emirati leaders to lead the private sector, in line with the UAE Vision 2021.

"The agreement establishes a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the Prime Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, to unify their efforts, plans, visions and cooperation in developing young Emirati leaders in the private sector. The ministry also established the ‘Private Sector Youth Council,’ which is a platform for dialogue and the representative arm of Emirati youth in the private sector, that enables them to launch initiatives, create policies, achieve their goals, and strengthen their leadership skills," Al Hamli said.

Al Roumi highlighted the government’s efforts to create a leading Emirati generation of public and private sector employees, who are a national priority and the foundation of relevant initiatives, projects and policies.

"The UAE Government Leaders Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office represents the vision of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for future leaders who are capable of handling their responsibilities, making decisions, and facing their challenges. The programme, since its launch some ten years ago, has graduated over 1,000 government leaders in various categories who now occupy leading positions, making it a reference for qualifying leaders and building their capabilities," she said.

She added that the programme is continuing its efforts to create the future leaders in various sectors through investing in UAE nationals and the youth, and motivating them to help achieve the country’s development, as well as the strategic goals of the UAE Vision 2021 and the UAE Centennial 2071, which will strengthen the country’s regional and international stature and reputation.

The UAE government leadership programme was established in 2008 by a decree from his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve the vision of the UAE leadership in enabling government employees across the UAE. Since its inception, UAEGLP has enabled its participants to become leaders by providing them with world class tools and knowledge to enrich both their personal and professional experiences.
