The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, revealed its statistics related to the number of transactions of its Citizenship Sector during the first half of the current year, which reached 33,816, including the issuing of 19,636 new passports and 1,303 new family books.
The directorate called on the UAE’s citizens who wish to travel abroad to check the validity of their passports and renew them before they expire, within a maximum period of six months from their travel date, especially during vacations and official holidays, to avoid delaying their trip or facing obstacles upon reaching their destination country.
Brigadier Ahmed Al Muhairi, Assistant Director-General of the Directorate, explained that Dubai Citizenship is working according to high standards, to offer the best services through smart applications, due to the directorate’s keenness to ease passport renewal procedures.
He added that UAE citizens can now renew the passports through the smart application of Dubai Citizenship in only four steps, and new passports will be delivered to the person who made the request, through the "Porter" delivery service.
He also highlighted the importance of the UAE passport, which is a symbol of the country and is the official travel document of UAE citizens, which must be preserved, and not to be damaged or lost, and must be placed in a safe location.
