Dubai Customs shares best practices with RAK counterparts
(2 May 2016)

Dubai Customs has received a delegation from Ras Al Khaimah Customs, with the aim of acquainting them with the best practices and smart Customs services offered by Dubai Customs to clients.

As he welcomed the delegation, the Executive Director of Customer Management Division at Dubai Customs Abdullah Al Khaja underscored that Dubai Customs is ready to share its experiences with other Customs agencies in the country to help upgrade processes as well as increase their efficiency.

The delegation learned from their counterparts in Dubai Customs about top services and facilitations offered to customers. They also discussed various issues related to the Smart Transformation Strategy of Dubai Customs.

Specific attention was paid to the recent initiatives that aim at elevating customers’ experience with Dubai Customs. Such initiatives include the Smart Workspace; which makes the process of filling out customs declarations a maximum of 5-minute job, Self-Reporting of Customs Violations; which allows clients to voluntarily report Customs violations so as to pay the least possible penalties, and the Smart Customs Inspection Glasses; a tool that provides inspectors with details of the shipment at hand.

The RAK officials toured Dubai Customs’ Command and Control Room, where they were briefed on the room’s smart remote surveillance system and communication mechanism.

“Coordinating with other Customs administrations in the UAE to exchange experiences and best practices in the field is key to streamline trade and customs services across the country. We are keen on presenting our technical know-how to others, in a bid to boost foreign trade,” said Abdullah Al Khaja.

The visiting delegation comprised the Deputy Director General Aisha Ahmed Al Shehhi, Customs Affairs Director Marwan Mohammed Darbeini, Support Services Director Mona Ahmed Al Mazkour and others. They were received by Shuaib AlSuwaidi, Customs Intelligence Director, Younis Othman, IT Director, and Hyssam Juma, Business Process Director.
