DEWA invites companies to participate in WETEX 2016
(29 July 2016)

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is calling on regional and international companies operating in energy, water and the environment sectors to participate in the 18th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2016) which is organised by DEWA under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA.

WETEX takes place on 4-6 October 2016. DEWA invites companies to benefit from the investment opportunities offered by the next exhibition, which will be the biggest in its history with an expanded area of 63,700 square metres. It is also expected to attract 1,900 exhibitors from 46 countries and 22,600 visitors from around the world.

DEWA will present a series of its most prominent projects at WETEX and invites companies to benefit from its investment opportunities. DEWA has allocated a specific hall for water technology, another for renewable energy solutions and a third for rationalisation technology among other sectors. Held under the theme ‘At the Forefront of Sustainability,’ WETEX 2016 represents an ideal platform to strengthen partnerships between international electricity, water, energy, and environmental businesses and their local counterparts.

DEWA has conducted a series of visits to a number of countries, most recently the Russian Federation, to discuss ways to strengthen opportunities for cooperation between the water, electricity, environmental, renewable and clean energy and environmental sustainability sectors and relevant Russian firms.

Also, DEWA cooperated with the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) and organised a DEWA-Japanese forum to innovate in business and communications, with 50 Japanese firms participating at DEWA’s Sustainable Building in Al Quoz. This strengthened relations with Japanese firms to achieve common goals, in addition to inviting Japanese firms to participate in WETEX 2016 and the Dubai Solar Show in October.

“At DEWA we work to a clear vision for environmental sustainability, supported by Dubai’s leadership, and we look forward to more cooperation with the private sector in our projects to achieve this vision. WETEX consolidates its position as one of the largest specialised exhibitions in the world in energy, water and environment.

The show played a pivotal role in forging significant partnerships in these sectors both within the UAE and the region. Every year, many international companies take part as they see it as an ideal platform to display their solutions and products at a time when the UAE and Dubai Government continue to launch promising projects to support the green economy and sustainable development.

This year, the first Dubai Solar Show will feature solar energy solutions and technologies to be held in conjunction with WETEX. This event provides an ideal platform to sign contracts and look at the latest technologies in this promising sector,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, and President and Founder of WETEX.

For the third consecutive year, DEWA is organising WETEX 2016 under the umbrella of Green Week, which also includes the first Dubai Solar Show and the third World Green Economy Summit (WGES). The Dubai Solar Show will be a key platform for government and private sectors to make deals, build partnerships, review the latest solar-energy technologies, learn about current and future projects in the region and market needs, and explore opportunities to take part in solar-energy projects and programmes.

Organising WETEX, the Dubai Solar Show, and the World Green Economy Summit concurrently is an opportunity to meet exhibitors, and decision-makers from the UAE, GCC, and the Middle East. Participants can take advantage of the busy agenda of the event, which includes seminars, workshops, and specialised activities and expert lectures and specialists from around the world.

They will discuss the development and use of solar energy in the region to achieve sustainable development, to ensure a sustainable future, for generations to come.
