(29 December 2016)

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received a delegation from Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA), as part of its commitment towards cooperating with different local and international entities, to contribute to the development of the UAE.

The delegation was introduced to DEWA’s latest advancements in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and the latest solutions required to keep pace with rapid technological development.

During the delegation’s visit, they were introduced to DEWA’s major achievements in GIS, and the latest programmes, solutions, and applications, used by DEWA in this field. DEWA highlighted how these programmes and solutions are integrated into its electricity and water services, which are based on the highest standards of availability, efficiency, and reliability. DEWA also highlighted their means of sharing geographic data both internally and externally, and discussed Geographic Information Management, and the integration of SAP management.

“DEWA is committed to cooperation with different regional and international organisations, to achieve the UAE Vision 2021, to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world by 2021, and the Dubai Plan 2021, which aims for the Government of Dubai to be proactive, and creative in meeting the needs of individuals and society as a whole. DEWA gives high priority to these visits, as part of its belief to exceed the expectations of the UAE’s residents, for great benefit to government services,” said Marwan Bin Haider, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future at DEWA.

DEWA adopts the best technical solutions, to enhance the UAE as a country that puts the happiness and the security of its community at the forefront of its priorities. DEWA is constantly working to transform Dubai into a role model for smart cities, by adopting the best information security practices, which is a vital pillar in the development of smart cities.  The delegation from SEWA thanked DEWA for its hospitality, and efforts to introduce them to Geographic Information Systems.
