MD & CEO of DEWA receives French delegation

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received a high-level delegation headed by HE Michel Miraillet, French Ambassador to the UAE. The delegation included Jean Ballandras, Secretary General of Akuo Energy, Martine Kubler-Mamlouk, Deputy Permanent Representative of France to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Laurent Longuet, Regional Director of Akuo Middle East, and Jean Daniel Lebon and Benoit Melen from the French Renewable Energy Association. 

Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at DEWA, and Yousef Jebril, Executive Vice President of Power, Water & Planning at DEWA, were also present at the meeting.  Al Tayer noted the successful relations between the two parties, which has resulted in a number of achievements. Al Tayer introduced DEWA’s most important projects and initiatives that support the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, to transform Dubai into an international hub for clean energy and green economy. The strategy aims to provide 7% of Dubai’s total power output from clean energy by 2020, 25% by 2030, and 75% by 2050. 

Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s initiatives and programmes to encourage education and scientific research, by providing a stimulating environment that is capable of facilitating competitive excellence to identify new solutions for clean energy.

The visiting delegation introduced their latest techniques, solutions, and studies on renewable energy, and commended DEWA’s efforts on sustainable development, and transforming Dubai into an international hub for clean energy. The delegation expressed interest in participating in DEWA’s ongoing projects, and exchanging practices and experiences in clean energy, to contribute to the sustainable development of the Emirate.
