MD & CEO of DEWA welcomes Consul-General of the Netherlands in Dubai

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has received HE Hans Sandee, Consul-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Dubai, as part of DEWA’s efforts to build closer ties, and exchange experiences with international government and private organisations,. Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources, was also present at the meeting. The meeting highlighted opportunities for joint cooperation in the energy sector, and DEWA’s most important projects and initiatives launched to support Dubai’s transition into a green economy through establishing water and electricity infrastructure in adherence with the highest international standards. 

At the beginning of the meeting, Al Tayer welcomed Sandee, highlighting some of the most important projects and strategic initiatives launched in to support the Dubai Plan 2021, to transform Dubai into a smart city with environmental elements that are clean, healthy, and sustainable, and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 75% of the Emirates total power output from clean energy sources by 2050. Al Tayer discussed the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the Hassyan clean coal power plant, and DEWA’s plan to build a hydroelectric power station in Hatta. Al Tayer also discussed DEWA’s three smart initiatives, launched within the framework of the Dubai Smart initiative. The sides discussed how to enhance the contribution of Dutch companies in Dubai, and the UAE’s clean and renewable energy sectors, to broaden horizons mutually benefit from exchanging experiences. Sandee commended DEWA’s efforts towards promoting clean energy in Dubai and the UAE, and expressed his interest in participating in the nineteenth version of the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) in 2017.

Sandee also expressed his interest in participating in the Dubai Solar Show, which will be largest of its kind in the region, and will coincide with WETEX 2017 at one single location. The event will highlight different renewable energy sources, with a focus on solar energy and its role in provision of electricity, to support sustainability both regionally and internationally.
