Hamdan honors winners of UAE Drones for Good Award and UAE AI/ Robotics Award for Good

Crown Prince of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum honored the winners of UAE Drones for Good Award and UAE AI/ Robotics Award for Good.

Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on a number of hi tech projects presented by the participating teams that offers applied innovative solutions in economy, humanitarian and scientific research areas.

40 projects from local and international entities were shortlisted for the awards. 20 projects are from inside the country, including 10 for UAE Drones Award and 10 for UAE AI/ Robotics Award for Good.

The awards are part of UAE’s efforts to contribute in scientific research and also reflects the leadership’s vision to utilize technology and modern sciences for the happiness of people.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed honored Nokia’s “Seven Lives”, a low-weight communication equipment project, as winner of the US$ 1 million UAE Drones for Good Award in the international category. “Sanad Academy”, a drone used for marine search and rescue missions, won the AED 1 million UAE Drones for Good Award in the national category.

Sheikh Hamdan also honored Open Bionics team with the US$ 1 million AI/Robotics for Good Award in the international category and “In-pipe inspection" robot with the US$ 1 million AI/Robotics for Good Award in the national category. The In-pipe inspection robot can navigate inside oil and pipelines to detect leaks.

Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Economy Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai Lt-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Member of the Board of Director of Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Information and Communication Technology Fund Dr Abdulqader Ibrahim Al Khayyat, Director General of Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Hamad Obaid Al Mansoorie and other senior officials attended the award ceremony.
