The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will extend the service hours of the Dubai Metro on Wednesday (29th March) and following Saturday(1st April) to serve the anticipated massive number of visitors of Gitex Shopper 2017. The exhibition runs over four days ending on Saturday, April 1st, 2017.
Mohammed Yousef Al Mudharreb, Director of Rail Operation, Rail Agency, RTA, said, “The operation hours of the Dubai Metro Red Line on Wednesday, March 29th will be from 5.30 am to 01.00 am (early morning of the following day) i.e. offering one additional operation hour. On the same day, the Green Line will start operation at 05.50 am and continue up to 01.00 am (early morning of the following day) i.e. offering one additional operation hour.
“Once again the service hours of the Red and Green metro lines will be extended one hour on Saturday, April 1st (last day of the Exhibition). The metro service on both the Red and Green lines will be normal on Thursday, March 30th, and Friday, March 31st,” explained Al Mudharreb.
“Gitex Shopper is a flagship shopping event for IT & communication devices in the region. Hosted annually by Dubai, the extravaganza attracts dozens of thousand visitors from the region and far afield. The Exhibition is hosted by the Dubai World Trade Center; which is just steps away from the metro station that bears the name of the Center.
“With the growing footfall of Gitex Shopper every year, Dubai Metro is continuing to offer a convenient ride for visitors of the event, availing them a smooth, safe and express transit experience to & from the venue. The metro ride will also save the time & effort of visitors, ridding them of the hassles associated with the use of vehicles,” added the Director of Rail Operation.
