Dubai Electronic Security Center organizes a second workshop for government institutions
(2 April 2017)

The Dubai Electronic Security Center organized a second workshop to support the initial framework for the Dubai Cyber Security Strategy plan entitled “Dubai Cyber Security Strategy Initiatives” to meet the needs and initiatives of government institutions and sectors in the Emirate with the purpose of achieving the strategic objectives to meet the risks and challenges of electronic systems and government information, in coordination with various government sectors. The Dubai Cyber Security Strategy aims at providing the world’s safest infrastructure for e-services in the Emirate, which includes all government, semi-government and private sectors, including individuals such as citizens, residents and visitors.

During the workshop, the objectives of the plan were presented and its main focus is to provide a secure electronic structure to counter the electronic challenges facing the emirate and to build a society aware of the dangers of electronic security. The executive plan was also presented to monitor the implementation of the objectives and performance indicators for each participating entity in the plan.

The workshop also included creative and interactive discussions between the participants to identify the challenges they're facing within their entities and within Dubai as a whole. This yielded a list of innovative ideas and solutions to overcome these risks with a set a time frame for implementing them.

Yousuf Hamad Al Shaibani, Chief Executive Office of the Dubai Electronic Security Center, stressed that it is a joint responsibility between DESC and other entities to protect informational assets and prevent any potential risks by establishing a strategic plan that addresses any threats or attack. This is achieved by jointly applying practical ideas and solutions to the challenges faced by the government entities.”

Al Shaibni concluded, “we are working with various organizations to develop deterrence plans for electronic security threats and challenges with high standards that will be implemented in coordination and cooperation between all parties in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
