Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum honours winners of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Holy Quran Recitation Contest

In the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Organising Committee of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) hosted the closing ceremony of the 11th Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Holy Quran Recitation Contest. 

Advisor to His Highness the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Chairman of the Organising Committee of Dubai International Holy Quran Award Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha, members of the Organising Committee, the jury members and families of the contestants attended the ceremony.

The ceremony started with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Al Sayed Mohamed Al Sayed Ali, winner in the Mosque Imams category. Following this, Member of the DIHQA Organising Committee and Head of Media Unit Ahmed Al Zahid delivered a speech on behalf of Bu Melha. In his speech, Al Zahid welcomed the attendees and spoke about the importance of reciting the Holy Quran.

Al Zahid said that Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the Dubai International Holy Quran Award two decades ago to honour the Holy Quran and motivate students to memorise and recite the Holy Quran.

He said the Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Holy Quran Recitation Contest, over the past ten years, has introduced to the world many beautiful voices and talented Quran readers from various nations and of different ages.

Al Zahid added that the contest this year saw 345 contestants taking part in the preliminary qualification round, out of which 50 contestants were selected for the final round. He said the Organising Committee will add a new category for young women to the Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Holy Quran Recitation Contest.

The Organising Committee expressed its gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his unlimited support and to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum for attending the award ceremony and honouring the winners.

Following the recitations from the Holy Quran by the winners of the various Award categories, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum and Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha honoured the winners.
